A safe alternative to laser eye surgery

Lens correction

If laser treatment is not medically feasible, lens surgery can often be performed as an alternative. So-called phakic lenses are implanted when the natural lens still provides good near vision.
In this procedure, either the natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens, or an additional lens is inserted into the eye. As in laser surgery, a thorough pre-operative examination and measurement of the eyes is a prerequisite.

Refractive Lens Exchange

Glasses and contact lens wearers over 45 know how difficult the transition to progressive lenses can be. Modern multifocal lenses can also correct presbyopia. This largely eliminates the need for reading glasses. In addition to clear vision at both near and far distances, this treatment has another advantage: after refractive lens exchange, patients do not have to worry about developing cataracts, as the artificial lens cannot become cloudy.
