El examen OCT es un componente importante en el diagn\u00f3stico de enfermedades de la retina. Los hallazgos del examen OCT a menudo son decisivos para la decisi\u00f3n terap\u00e9utica. La determinaci\u00f3n del grosor corneal es un requisito previo importante para la interpretaci\u00f3n de la presi\u00f3n intraocular medida en el diagn\u00f3stico y tratamiento del glaucoma, ya que la presi\u00f3n intraocular real depende del grosor corneal. Por lo tanto, la paquimetr\u00eda se realiza en el diagn\u00f3stico inicial del glaucoma y en casos de presi\u00f3n intraocular elevada.<\/p><p data-sourcepos=\"3:1-3:164\">La paquimetr\u00eda tambi\u00e9n se utiliza en el diagn\u00f3stico antes de la cirug\u00eda refractiva. La OCT se utiliza para la detecci\u00f3n temprana del glaucoma. Con este m\u00e9todo de examen, se puede monitorear el \u00e9xito terap\u00e9utico del tratamiento del glaucoma. Los cambios en el nervio \u00f3ptico se pueden detectar m\u00e1s temprano y m\u00e1s claramente con OCT que con otros m\u00e9todos de examen. Utilizando luz l\u00e1ser de diferentes longitudes de onda, se escanea el fondo de ojo y se examinan los cambios patol\u00f3gicos.<\/p><p data-sourcepos=\"3:1-3:335\">El examen SLO juega un papel importante en la detecci\u00f3n de la degeneraci\u00f3n macular asociada a la edad (DMAE), la retinopat\u00eda diab\u00e9tica y otras diversas enfermedades del fondo de ojo, y se utiliza en particular para monitorizar el curso de la enfermedad.
